NUR-SULTAN- Ms Ndileka Mandela, participated in today’s KazEnergy Forum,
the fourteenth Kazenergy Eurasian Forum and World Energy Week which is took
place in digital format during Oct. 5-7 in Nur-Sultan.
The events showed the recognition of Kazakhstan’s contribution to the energy sector
development.
“This year’s theme ‘Energy for Better Lives’ reflects the ideas of the head of state on ensuring energy security, building professional human resources, and low-carbon development.”
“In Kazakhstan, the fuel and energy complex remains one of the main industries on which the country’s energy security directly depends.”
Kazakhstan has permanent membership in international organizations such as the World Petroleum Council (WPC), the World Energy Council, the International Energy Charter, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the International Energy Agency, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, among others.
The Kazenergy Association was founded in 2005. Over the years, it has united more than 70 major players in the oil and gas and energy complex, including mining and transport, service and geophysical, uranium and
other domestic and international companies.
Ms. Mandela was among other speakers such as Francesco La Camera, IRENA Director General, Fjayeran, WPC President, Urban Rusnak, Secretary General of the
International Energy Charter, Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Kazakh Minister of
Energy, Almassadam Satkaliev, Samruk-Kazyna Chief Executive Officer, Serikkali Brekeshev, Kazakh Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources and many others.
In her remarks Ms. Mandela spoke about the challenges the women and girls in South Africa face to enter and participate in the Energy sector, such as lack of career opportunities, development and infrastructure. Ms Mandela commended the work of Total saying Total has done well in contributing to Africa’s opportunities and changes in the Energy Sector.
Energy developments continue to take centre stage. In an increasingly digital era, physical energy is still the ultimate connector and bridge to a better future in which globally connected energy societies flourish
in a context of human progress and planetary health.
The leaders in the industry continued to exchange and to interact on opportunities and the responsibility of energy and finding ways to build forward together the new contexts of affordability and social justice.
