Tuesday marks the 58th Africa Day, formerly known as the African Freedom Day, commemorating the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended a celebration event in Beijing. Addressing diplomats from African countries, Wang said this is a festival that China and Africa jointly celebrate. He also expressed gratitude for Africa’s support in China’s fight against the COVID-19 outbreak last year.
