Dr. Naledi Pandor hosted the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Mr Frederick Shava, at DIRCO to Co-Chair the Mid-Term Review of the Bi-National Commission (BNC). 10 August 2022.
During the visit, the two Ministers had an opportunity to share information and exchange views on bilateral relations and other matters of mutual interest.
The Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on Education as well as that of Agriculture are now at their final stages. These increased efforts at collaboration are testimony of the mutually beneficial relations that our two countries continue to enjoy.
Minister Pandor said in her opening remarks, “We have met some barriers to achieving more in our implementation of various agreements, particularly because of Covid-19. But I believe that we can overcome these challenges”.
Minister spoke about the effective management of immigration, and highlighted the management agency which aims to mitigate the challenges that come with the matter of immigration.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic Total between South Africa snd Zimbabwe increased from R38 billion in 2020 to R47, 5 billion in 2021
South Africa and Zimbabwe share common values on regional, continental and global governance issues of mutual interest.
Both South Africa and Zimbabwe have been elected into the African Union Peace and Security Council for the period 2022-2024
