On 26 May, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Pretoria organised a reception on the occasion of the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education, Culture and the Slavonic Literature.
The event took place in the framework of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of South Africa. The reception was attended by Heads of Missions and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Business, Civil society and Academia.
Also in attendance was the Members of the Bulgarian Association in the RSA, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Cape Town Mr Boris Vassilev, the Director and teachers from the Sunday School “Slancho”, the representative of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and former South African students who have graduated from Bulgarian universities.
The Embassy celebrated the 24th of May, Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education, Culture and the Slavonic Literature in the framework of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and South Africa.
South Africa is characterized as a strategic partner of Bulgaria. Interest Offices between South Africa and Bulgaria were opened initially in November 1990 and full diplomatic relations was established on February 2, 1992. Bulgaria has an embassy in Pretoria and South Africa is represented in Bulgaria through its embassy in Athens (Greece).
