INAUGURAL SESSION OF THE JOINT PERMANENT COMMISSION FOR COOPERATION (JPCC) BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF BOTSWANA AND THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape, will lead the Botswana delegation to Kigali, Rwanda, to participate at the Inaugural Session of the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC) between Botswana and Rwanda, on 28th – 29th April 2022.

The Ministerial Session will be preceded by the Senior Officials Session which will take place on 26th – 27th April 2022. Botswana and Rwanda established bilateral relations in 2004, and in 2019, the two countries signed the General Cooperation Framework Agreement, establishing the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC).

The convening of the JPCC Inaugural Session will provide the two countries with the opportunity to strengthen their strategic partnership through bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest such as, trade and investment; science and technology; tourism; justice and legal matters.

On the margins of the Inaugural Session, a Business Forum will also be held for members of the private sector from both countries. Some of the areas that the Forum will cover include

agriculture and agro-processing; manufacturing; financial and business services.
