The 9th session of the South Africa-Saudi Arabia (JEC) and the South Africa- Saudi Arabia Trade and Investment Forum, provided opportunities to strengthen South Africa’s trade relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and exchanged knowledge in areas of best practice.

Minister Ebrahim Patel and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef signed the joined communique during the South Africa – Saudi Arabia 9th session of the Joint Economic Commission in Pretoria.

Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Ebrahim Patel said “We have identified a number of sectors ranging from manufacturing to renewable energy, there is already a Saudi Arabia company in South Africa producing energy for our grid.

The agro- processing value chain was also looked at because of the need to create more jobs in South Africa for smaller businesses,” adds Patel.

The Diplomatic Informer Magazine spoke to Deputy Minister for Investors Outreach, His Excellency Mr Badr Al Badr assured of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to building stronger investment trade and business links between the middle eastern country and South Africa

The Deputy Minister Badr Al Badr emphasised that investments are among the engines of growth in any economy that can result in asset creation, “which leads to enhanced production, employment and overall economic progress.”

The launch of the South Africa-Saudi Arabia Joint Business Council brought together captains of industry from both countries to deepen economic ties.

The forum was an opportunity to promote emerging-sector opportunities and highlight closer cooperation and collaboration between the two countries.
