On 7 October 2022, Southern Africa Georgia Chamber of Commerce (SAGCC) hosted a farewell cocktail reception for His Excellency Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador of Georgia to South Africa and spouse Mrs. Nino Lezhava, at the Lake View Terrace, Club House, Silver lakes Golf Estate, in Pretoria.
His Excellency Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of South Africa, (with residence in Pretoria) is accredited to the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Botswana, the Kingdom of Eswatini, the Republic of Zambia, the Republic of Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Republic of Madagascar, the Republic of Mauritius, the Republic of Malawi, the Republic of Mozambique and in the Republic of Namibia.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 23 April 1993 while Embassy of Georgia in Pretoria started only in September 2011.
The partnership between Georgia and the Republic of South Africa is based on mutual respect and full understanding of the value of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
As the first ever Georgian Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, Ambassador Beka Dvali, a Diplomat Par excellence assumed his term of duty on 2 November 2012 and is due to complete his tenure in South Africa.
Ambassador Dvali served as the Dean of the European Countries accredited to the Republic of South Africa and exemplified leadership excellence. It is sad to see one of the best Ambassadors completing his tenure in
South Africa.
In his remarks, H.E. Mr. Dvali expressed his gratitude for every experience shared, friendship made and the good times he had during his tenure with his dearest colleagues, the Diplomatic Corps in South Africa, South African government officials, Civil Society, South African Business and South African Community.
SAGCC members, Heads of Missions from various countries such as the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lithuania, Mauritius, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Gabon, Ukraine, officials from Dirco, officials from the different political parties, civil society and many more attended the farewell event.
