Today, 12 April 2021, marks the 25th Anniversary of the Opening for Signature for the Treaty of Pelindaba. The African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE) is hosting a meeting today to commemorate this important day.
Several High-Level Officials will deliver statements during the event, including International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Dr. Naledi Pandor.
South Africa is the host country and Chair of the AFCONE for a 3-year term from 2018-2021.
The meeting will be introduced by AFCONE Executive Secretary, Mr Messaoud Baaliouamer; Chairperson, Adv. Doctor Mashabane and Mr. Hadjaro Adam Senoussi, the Vice Chairperson, and it will be moderated by International Politics Professor Jo-Ansie Van Wyk from the Department of Political Sciences at the University of South Africa.
